Analysing Opening Scenes - Introduction

Firstly, I want to find out whether opening scenes of films are similar to each other in terms of structure, content and purpose, regardless of the genre the films belong to.

In order to do this I am going to look at five opening scenes from different genres to see if there are similarities.

The opening scenes I have chosen to look at are:

'Raiders of the Lost Ark' (action/adventure)
